In January 1994 I received a scholarship to work at Open Studio an artist's printmaking facility in downtown Toronto. This is the body of work that i was priveledged to produce there, for me this has been one of the few times in my career that i have been able to work for a concentrated period of time on just my art. To all at Open Studio I owe a thank-you, without you assistance and expertise the works would not be what they are.
I have for the last five to seven years produced a body of work best described as mono prints, although elements of photography creep into a lot of the work. These simple gestural works are in my way visual hy cues, I use them to try and free myself up while in the process of putting together more complex pieces. They also serve to remind me of the simple beauty of a gesture or stroke of paint.
